Burglar caught
A burglar was caught red-handed by the police late last evening after he broke into a department store in Northlands mall.
The man, aged 20, will be charged with breaking into the Farmers Trading Company store through a skylight.
A police spokesman said the man already had some electrical items ready to take away and had damaged part of a display case.
The police found the man in the store when they arrived with the keyholder about 11.50 p.m. The spokesman said that last evening had been “very quiet” compared with Saturday evening when 73 calls had been attended to in eight hours. More than twothirds of those calls had been in the first four hours.
