‘Press’ Cup lead to Lincoln College
Lincoln College is still nine points clear in “The Press” Centennial Cup competition, for the best and fairest senior rugby side. It was not among the high scorers on Saturday with a mark of 15 out of the possible 20, —but its two closest rivals, High School Old Boys and Belfast, also had 15s.
Belfast, in fact, has slipped back to fifth place, being overtaken by Burnside and Albion. Bumside was one of five teams which shared the day’s top mark of 19. Another was University A and this was a big improvement on its recent efforts.
Linwood and Suburbs, which opposed each other, shared the low mark of 12, Suburbs having six points for sportsmanship deducted when one of its players, John Gibson, was ordered off and Linwood lost three when Mike Franson was sent to the sin bin.
