Sir Basil shows wedding nerves?
PA Wellington A few embarrassing seconds occurred for Sir Basil Arthur, member of Parliament for Timaru, when he dropped the ring during his wedding ceremony in Wellington yesterday. In true politician’s style he recovered himself quickly, found the ring, and placed it on the finger of his bride, Colleen Kennett. It was a second marriage for both. Witnesses at the ceremony were Mr R. J. Tizard, the Labour member of Parliament for Otahuhu, and Sir Basil’s daughter-in-law, Mrs Carolyn Arthur, of Timaru, Lady Arthur is a private secretary in Wellington. About 50 people attended the wedding celebrations at the Hotel St George.
