Top cattle sold at national sale
PA Palmerston North Buyers were interested in only the top lots at the national Murray Grey sale in Palmerston North. Bidding was slow and there were many passings, but eventually 16 bulls found buyers at an average of $2978. The top price was $BOOO paid by the Qtautau breeders, Mr Bill Scott and his daughter, Mrs Caroline Mclntosh, for a rising two-year-old Warrior of Greyview. Warrior had earlier
been judged the reserve chamKbull of the sale. He was and offered by Mr Ransome Smyth, of Manakau City. The sale champion, Tenterden Dexter, was sold for $7500. He was offered on account of Mr Warwick Power, of Hawarden, and sold to Mr Donald Boyd, of Dunedin. There were only three females on offer at the sale and these averaged $9OO, with the champion female, Mount Holdsworth Katrina, making $950.
