NZPa Quebec Miss Marilyn Smith, of New Zealand, eagled one hole and birdied seven others as she firmed a career-best 65 to take the first-round lead yesterday in the $300,000 Ladies Profes-
sional Golf Association Peter Jackson Classic. Smith’s total - seven under par — was one of a host of low’ scores on the par-72, Beaconsfield Golf Club course. Fifty-five of the 124 entrants shot par or better.
