14-vote difference for presidency

PA Napier The voting for the presidency of the New Zealand Trotting Conference was announced in Napier yesterday. Mr Dewar Robertshaw, of Auckland, defeated Sir James Barnes, of Dunedin, by 36 votes to 22. Sir James’s defeat ended 16 years’ service to the

conference, four of them as president. He will continue as a member of the New Zealand Racing Authority. Mr Robertshaw said clubs should not expect great changes under his leadership. “I do not shoot from the hip. I will do my homework and seek the co-operation of the executive in any decision making,” he said.
