Talks deadline
Peking’s most powerful leader, Deng Xiaoping, has set a two-year deadline on the Sino-British talks on the future of Hong Kong, said a Hong Kong delegate to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference in Peking. The British lease on the bulk of this territory will run out in 1997. China has said that it will resume sovereignty over Hong Kong. — Hong Kong.
