Gladstone crushed
Woolston Foundry A hammered out an 8-0 drubbing to DB Gladstone in the latest round of matches in the Countrywide Sunday soccer league. It was Gladstone’s biggest loss since it joined the league, and Taki Margarites knocked in three goals as Foundry cemented its place at the top of the division one table. Avonhead A was 0-2 down to North Beach A before it got into the swing of things. It then rattled on six goals, two of them from a former Southern league player, Warren Quirke. Results were:— Division 1. — Foresters 4, Wigram A 2; Masterguard A 1, Sunnyside 1; Avonhead A 6, North Beach A 2; Woolston Foundry A 8, DB Gladstone 0. Division 2. — Masterguard B 2, Air New Zealand A 2; Music Machine A 1, Lyttelton 0; Ham 4, Avonhead B 0; Pharoahs 2, Pickworth Palace 0. Division 3. - DB Imperial A 5, North Beach B 2; Templeton 2, Wigram B 1; Dux le Lux 4, CSB 0; Mykonos Tavema 5, Crown Tavern 0. Division 4. — DB Riccarton 4, Bemcastle 1; Woolston Foundry B 9; Air New Zealand B 1; Mico Wakefield 2, DB Imperial B 2. The management line-up for the Sunday league trip, to the West Coast in September is David Couton, manager, Ron Gilbert assistant manager, Brian Maple, coach.
