Overseas show
The Royal Overseas League’s annual Commonwealth Art Exhibition will be held in London in early September. A New Zealand exhibition will be held in Christchurch on July 5, 6 and 7. A selection of these paintings will be forwarded to London for the September exhibition. The London exhibition is primarily for artists under the age of 35. Cash prizes of £ 500 sterling will be given. The New Zealand exhibition will carry awards to a total of $l5O in the under 35 classification, and $5O in the open section. Only those
paintings in the first category will be eligible for selection for forwarding to London. The open section is for those artists over 35. Works may be submitted in oils, water colour or mixed media. The size of the paintings is limited to 3ft x 2ft excluding the frame, which must be of light construction with a maximum depth of 2cm in the mould. Artists may submit no more than two paintings. The New Zealand adjudicator will be Mr John Coley, director of the Robert McDougall Art Gallery.
