Tackle U.S. —lawyers
PA Auckland A group of American lawyers is visiting Auckland to tell local businessmen not to be frightened of tackling the United States market. “Many people find the thought of entering the American market pretty scary because they hear horror stories about law suits and anti-trust violations and the like,” said the delegation leader, Mr Peter Watson, a New Zealander, who now lives and practices in Los Angeles. “There are a lot of misunderstandings. “We hope this visit will lead to an exchange of knowledge and information so that the business com-
munity here has a better idea of the parameters involved,” he said. The American Government was becoming “increasingly sensitive and sympathetic” to New Zealand imports. Fish and shellfish products and natural wood products had been especially successful. It was true American producer boards had strongly resisted supplies of New Zealand beef, mutton, and more recently chilled lamb, he said. However, he believed this resistance could be overcome as the American public became more aware of the difficulties of the New Zealand exporters.
