Early bloomers for late winter
ABOVE: Old roses have recently enjoyed a revival of interest. Madame Isaac
Periere is one which has always been popular since it was introduced in the nine-
teenth century. It combines rich colour with heavy perfume. RIGHT: Lilies have some of the most sumptuous flowers found among hardy bulbs, and many of the hybrid lilies are very easily grown. This is one of the best — the soft orange Connecticut Yankee. Lily bulbs may be planted during the winter.
