NZPA-Reuter Moscow Soviet sappers are defusing Italian-made plastic anti-tank mines in Afghanistan and using them as lampshades, according to a report in the Armed Forces newspaper “Krasnaya Zvezda” (Red Star). The report, written by an Army colonel, described how a Soviet mine-clearing team of four armoured (vehicles had cleared a section of the Salang Pass north of Kabul, Afghanistan’s main road link with the Soviet Union.
