The title-holder, Dave Meredith, will face a familiar rival when he meets Brian Kirkness in the final of the Canterbury billiards championships at the Woolston W.M.C. this evening. Meredith and Kirkness have both won the title a number of times and both have also been New Zealand champions. Meredith, the younger of the two, (jps been the more domin-

ant player in recent years. Both men had convincing wins in the semi-finals last evening. Meredith beat Bill Burney, 1099-674, and Kirkness eliminated Ken Giles, 1114-924. The top break of the evening was a 91 by Meredith. Kirkness’ best effort was an 85. Tonight’s four hour final, to be played in two two hour begin at 6 p.m.*'
