New float helps energy issues
The announcement by Cue Energy Resources that it will float a new oil prospecting company helped cause active trading in the mining and oil sector of the New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. The sector accounted for more than a third of the total turnover. Cue rose 5c to 55c and NZ Oil and Gas 1c to 101 c. The industrial sector was also firmer, the N.Z.U.C. industrial index gaining 2.54 points. However, N.Z. Forest Products stood out among the falls, as did Command, N.Z. News, and Odlins. Ceramco and Ebos were steady on profit announcements made yesterday.
