Slitrig Wings too strong

Slitrig Wings made full use of an inside draw to score an effortless victory in the class 4 Solitaire Trophy, at the Ashburton County Greyhound Racing Club’s meeting at Chertsey on Sunday. After lowering the track record for 295 m a week earlier, the son of Silent Wonder and Slitrig Dancer found no difficulty in stepping up to 530 m, opening up a commanding break on his rivals in the middle stages and winning unopposed by seven lengths from Bourbon Star, with Bourbon Lass overcoming an early check to finish a creditable third. The Oakleigh Trophy, for class 2 sprinters, was decisively won by San Fleur.
