Sugar deliveries resume
PA Auckland Sugar deliveries have resumed in Auckland. A stoppage since Monday by 130 N.Z. Express Company drivers, who carry sugar from the Chelsea refinery, ended at noon yesterday. Within an hour trucks
were on their way to the idle refinery which had stopped production when storage space for refined sugar ran out on Thursday evening. The return to work followed a meeting of drivers at Otahuhu yesterday morning after a meet-
ing on Thursday involving representatives of the sugar company, N.Z. Express sugar workers’ union and drivers’ union. N.Z. Express has withdrawn a letter which was at the centre of the stoppage and the drivers agreed to withdraw their bans.
