Long-range forecasts
The Meteorological Service announced yesterday that it would not issue any further long-range weather E redictions for the time eing. The Meteorological Service said that aftbr a review of its long-range)predictions for the orevioiis summer and autumn, it had decided
they were not sufficiently accurate and were unlikely to improve because of various factors — the change in the southern oscillation being the main contributor. The service said, however, that it would monitor the situation closely and further forecasts would be issued if warranted.
