Newspaper prices
PA Hamilton The "Waikato Times” has announced that the price of its Hamilton evening daily newspaper will rise from 20c to 25c a copy from July 1. The increased cost was a consequence of the need to import newsprint as a result of the recent Kawerau strike, the newspaper said. The price of the “Times” has been 20 cents since October 1, 1980. As announced yesterday, the price of “The Press” will rise to 25c on Monday. Two other newspapers, the “New Zealand Herald” and the “Auckland Star” have also increased their prices to 25c to recoup the added cost of imported newsprint.
