The appointment may be either on a locum or permanent basis. Science graduates with an interest and relevant experience in GLC and HPLC will be considered. Salary and conditions of appointment in accordance with Hospital Service Determination DG 51. Closing date: July 15, 1983. (2) GRADE LABORATORY OFFICER - SECOND-IN-CHARGE HAEMATOLOGY DEPARTMENT The appointee will assist with the organisation of the Haematology Department and such other duties as required. Applicants must be Registered Medical Technologists with appropriate training and experience in Haematology. Salary: $19,271 to $20,162, according to qualifications and experience. PALMERSTON NORTH HOSPITAL BOARD MEDICAL STAFF VACANCIES HOROWHENUA HOSPITAL APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED from suitably qualified Registered Medical Practitioners for the following positions at Horowhenua Hospital, Levin: (1) MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT Specialist or Medical Officer of Special Scale, responsible for the provision and day to day organisation of the hospital’s medical and allied services. (2) MEDICAL OFFICER Medical Officer of Special Scale, responsible, in association with the Medical Superintendent and the Visiting Specialists, for the day to day medical care of all inpatients. (3) LOCUM SENIOR HOUSE OFFICER General medical and surgical duties. Appointment initially until December 1983. Salary: Specialist: $35,121 to $45,213. M.O.S.S. $24,286 to $42,717. Senior House Officer: $23,180 to $24,483. Horowhenua Hospital is a (140 beds) developing community hospital with current emphasis on geriatrics, psychiatry and rehabilitation. It also has an outpatient department, a general medical ward and a general surgical ward with facilities for non urgent minor surgery undertaken by Surgeons visiting from Palmerston North. There are supporting pharmacy, radiology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments and a laboratory service provided from the base hospital. The total population served is in excess of 40,000 and Horowhenua Hospital is less than one hour’s drive from the 560 bed base Hospital at Palmerston North which offers a full range of specialist services.
