MIDSHIPMAN took his record of 1.57.2 in a time trial as a two-year-old, and then six days later, in his last start for the season, he finished second in 1.57.6. In the following five weeks Midshipman paced a remarkable further seven sub 2.00 miles racing on the grand circuit. MIDSHIPMAN recorded same day heat wins in the prestigious Hayes Memorial in 1.58 and 1.57.8. MIDSHIPMAN is the only son of Meadow Skipper in New Zealand to have recorded sub 2.00 miles at both two and three years of age. MIDSHIPMAN'S eldest crop are current two-year-olds and he is represented by Paleface Tryax - the very impressive northern two-year-old — Molten Gold — winner at Addington — and the talented James Mac Faber - third in the Sapling Stakes after missing the start.
