Wool firm at Auckland
PA Auckland Prices at the Auckland wool sale yesterday were fully firm, particularly for the longer and better-style second-shear wool, but fleece oddments were generally erratic. The buying power was generally well spread, with the bulk of the wool going to Eastern Europe and New Zealand scouring merchants. Limited support came from the Middle East and China.
The offering was 16,191 bales of new season’s greasy wool plus 4545 bales of Wool Board stock wool. The sale was the last in Auckland this season.
The offering consisted of 88 per cent autumn second-
shear wool, 9 per cent clothing oddments, and the rest miscellaneous types. The offering generally was of good colour and better length, although some lines were still short and spoiled by the presence of shed stain and yellow discoloration. The adjusted weighted average sale price was 283.66 c a kilogram. Based on this, a Government supplementary payment of 12.8 per cent will apply to all wool sold at the sale and all wool sold privately from midnight on Wednesday to midnight last night. The market indicator was 284. Official range of prices: Crossbred secondshyr, 44/48s
