McMaster has most points

The heavy grounds of recent weeks has slowed down the scoring in Christchurch senior rugby and it seems unlikely that the record of 188 points set by Andrew McMaster (University A) last year, will be threatened.

McMaster is again leading the field, with 129 points. Gary Cookson (High

School Old Boys) is the only other centurion to date, with 116.

However, Colin Williamson (Shirley) is getting close with 94 and Dave Bowick (New Brighton), 85, Graham Kench (Christchurch), 81, Brent Nicholl (Sydenham), 79, and Deane McKinnel (Merivale-Papanui), 78, should all reach three figures before the end of

the C.S.B. Cup round. Other leading scorers are Stephen Bloomfield (Hornby) and Rod Latham (Linwood), both 64, Dave Farrant (Burnside), 59, Mike McLean (Lincoln College), 58, while the two main goalkickers for Marist, Grant McWhirter, 53, and Greg Coffey, 52, have posted more than 100 points between them.

Lincoln College’s Craig Green leads the try-scoring list with 11, two more than Victor Simpson (University A) and Daryl Park (High School Old Boys). McKinnel has kicked the most dropped goals (five), and Coffey, Farrant and Kieran Keane (Belfast), each have four.
