Training yacht leaving today
Twenty-five boys, aged 15 to 19, will have a taste of sea life when the Spirit, of Adventure sails from Lyttelton about 4 p.m. today. This voyage, the latest in a series of 10-day trips, will be round Banks Peninsula, to Timaru for a stop at port, and then will finish at Port Chalmers. The Spirit of Adventure, is scheduled to return to Lyttelton on Sunday, March 28, after being sailed from Dunedin by an adult crew which will be on board for the week-end. Captain N., Hylton, who is in charge of the vessel, said yesterday that its stay at Lyttelton had been very successful. More than 1000 sightseers had come aboard during an open day on Sunday, and handicapped children had seemed to enjoy a harbour cruise organised for them on Saturday. Yesterday the schooner was stocked .up with provisions and the crew rested in preparation for today’s voyage. ARRIVALS Ficus, (9 a.m.) 19,274, Singapore (Dalgety).
