Hatchet buried
Tunisia and Libya say they have buried their differences after an eight-year . crisis triggered off by an abortive union. A hasty merger agreement signed by - Tunisian President Habib Bourguiba and Libyan leader Muammar Gadaffi in 1974 never materialised, because the Tunisian. head of State reneged on the agreement overnight, saying he had been,, misled by his pro-Li-byari Foreign Minister whom he sacked. But Colonel Gadaffi and Mr Bourguiba have decided to forget the past and establish new relations based on neighbourliness and “loyal co-opera-tion.” Reliable sources said they patched up their squabble after Colonel Gadaffi returned the 1974 agreement. — Tunis.
