Mister Wood Chips well placed this evening
Special correspondent Wellington After his stylish win on Saturday night, the Christchurch 1 three-year-old, Mister Wood Chips, looks the one to beat in the Answer Services Free-for-all, first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting this evening. Mister Wood Chips, which ran close to the track record for 2000 m when winning on Saturday, looks to be well placed at No. 7 from the 2400 m start and should be able to either take the lead or settle handy. He showed he was able to lead all the way by his effort on the second night but. according to his trainer-driver, Graeme Court, is able to race anywhere in a field. Vienna Charm has been runner-up at his two starts at the meeting. She has drawn the second line, and that does not help , her prospects. She will, however, be running on strongly at the post and deserves to be rewarded for her consistent efforts soon. Profiteer did not receive the best of runs on Saturday and he could be an improver. He too has drawn the second line, but over 2400 m this may not be a disadvantage to him. Dreamy Dragon has run third on the two nights and should again be close, while a first night winner, Glencarron, steps up a.grade but should not find the rise in class too much of a hindrance. The second leg should see the Invercargill four-year-old, Stampede, make it a hattrick of wins for the meeting. The entire was most impressive on Saturday. He faces a tough test from an inside draw on the second line but his class should tell at the end. Governor’s Lady could gain some winning reward if Stampede is to be beaten. She pushed him to a head on Saturday and - was also second on the first night. Her driver, Murray Rennie, has had only four drives at the meeting, winning with Remote, then notching seconds behind Governor’s Lady (twice) and Kumutoto. Jaydonna Viva could be the strongest northern chance. She lost her chance when breaking on the first night then was allowed to miss the second night. The mobile, will be of.great help to her.. ' . '*
