Hope for abattoir
The C. S. Stevens group of companies, prominent South Island meat exporters, has emerged as a potential saviour of the financially troubled Christchurch City Abattoir. The C. S. Stevens group has joined the Development Finance Corporation and the Marac Corporation, Ltd, in
an attempt to rescue the C.B.P. (Canterbury Bye-Pro-ducts) group of companies, which has been in receivership since last November. C. S. Stevens plans to upgrade the C.8.P.-run city abattoir to not only serve the local market, but also to process for export. Details, page 22
