New regulations on L.P.G., C.N.G. use

.PA- Wellington New regulations would come into force on March 1 to ensure the safe use of liquefied petroleum gas and compressed natural gas as motor fuels, the director of the Road Transport Division of the Ministry of Trans port, Mr William Shearer, has said. “From March 1, all L.P.G. and C.N.G. fuel systems in motor-vehicles will have to be installed by an appropri ately authorised person, and then inspected annually to check that they are in safe working order,” Mr Shearer said.

“Upon a successful inspection a certificate, similar to a warrant of fitness, is provided for display on the car windscreen, with an identifying L.P.G. or C.N.G. sticker on the front and rear of the car. “These documents will accompany an installation certification, which although not displayed must be retained,” Mr Shearer said. Motorists who had already fitted their vehicles with an L.P.G. or C.N.G. fuel system would have until November 1 to make sure that the vehicle complied with the new regulations.
