Yacht salvaged

PA Nelson The 13m Wellington yacht Reimers was slipped for repairs at Port Nelson on Saturday, a week after she hit a reef and sank at Torrent Bay. Attempts by the salvager, Mr Dick Stringer, to raise the Swedish-built vessel were finally successful on Saturday after a frustrating week with delays caused by weather and gear problems. Reimers was beached and the gaping holes in her port side patched before being strapped alongside Mr Stringer’s launch Kea for a slow passage across Tasman Bay to Nelson.
