Boycott of Bastion Point tenders?

PA Auckland The protest leader, Mr Joe Hawke, will tender for land at Bastion Point worth thousands of dollars but at the mocking price of $45. The Housing Corporation has advertised for tenders for 1.6 hectares of what it described aS prime land with a view- of the Hauraki Gulf. The land would be “suitable for development for medium-density; low-rise housing.” Mr Hawke said that a campaign would now start to persuade prospective developers to boycott the tender. “Our priority is to organise a boycott,” he said. He believes about six big firms likely to tender for the

land could be persuaded to join a boycott. The campaign to stop the subdivision .would be intensified, with a public meeting on March 8 and a week-end occupation of Bastion Point from March 13 to 14.
