Records fall at veteran athletics
Twenty-seven records. 21 of them in the men’s grades, were set in the seventh Canterbury veteran track and field championships at Queen Elizabeth II Park yesterday. The former All Black. Bruce McPhail, of Ashburton, celebrated his move up to the M 45 grade by setting new records for the 100 m (11.65) 200 m (23.55). and 400 m (53.95). One of the oldest competitors. Norman Hawke, also of Ashburton, had an even more successful day in the M7O grade. He set new records ■ for the shot (10.6 m javelin (31.96 m hammer (29.54m)r discus (25.58 m The former Commonwealth Games sprinter. Shirley Peterson, claimed two of the three women's records. She set new times of 14s for the 100 m and 30.2 s for the 200 m. The other record in the women’s grades went
