Country bowls trophy
Country sub-centres took away the newly donated Anderson, Barnett Rose Trophy in the annual return bowling match with the Christchurch Centre at Amberley. The three donors of ’the trophy decided at last year's game at Leeston to buy the trophy to be competed for at the return game played on a country green. In presenting the trophy Mr Percy Barnett said he hoped many good games would result from it and said he was very pleased with the way that the Christchurch Centre had adopted its fellow country players. Eight city teams played two teams each from the four country sub-centres. At the end of the first game City Clubs lead with five wins to three, although they
were behind on points, 159 to 161. The afternoon match resulted in a win to country by seven games to one. Country scored 180 points to 138.
