Cricket Senior teams improve
Improved batting performances from Southern Districts and Christchurch W.M.C. were the feature of the first day’s play of the penultimate round of the Christchurch Suburban Cricket Association’s senior A competition. .
‘Christchurch W.M.C. scored 183 before declaring with eight wickets down. It was a much better effort with T. Lightfoot (47), K. Williams (36) and J. Knowles (36) heading the run scoring. Bowling for Harewood. Tony Fleete'finished with figures of five for 64. In reply, Harewood at stumps had lost three wickets for only 69 runs. Merivale-Papanui was 108 without loss with Wayne Tinker and Nook Ebert being the not out batsmen on 51 and 47, respectively.
