Big milk order

PA Wellington The Dairy Board has won an order worth $3O million from Peru to supply milk for the recombining trade. The Peruvian Government invites tenders on behalf of its milk companies three of four" times a year. New Zealand has been a dominant supplier for about 15 years, a Dairy Board spokesman estimated. The latest deal is for 12,500 tonnes of skim-milk powder,

5000 tonnes of anhydrous milk fat, and some spraydried whole milk, all for immediate shipment. The board is expected to enter other tenders later in the year. Annual exports to Peru in. recent years have run at between 15,000 and 20,000 tonnes of skim-milk powder, and -4000 to 9000 tonnes of anhydrous milk fat. The -Dairy Board’s total exports are worth $l2OO million a year.
