Nuclear submarines
Sir, — I noted that a gift had been sent by the commander of the nuclearpowered submarine Pintado to Mr Muldoon in appreciation for the hospitality shown to his crew when the vessel visited New Zealand last year. (“The Press,” April 21). I hope that Mr Muldoon will return these flags explaining that New' Zealanders extend hospitality to all visitors, even those whose military presence many of us detest. He should go on to say an even greater welcome would be extended should they return by conventional, preferably civilian transport. Our contribution to world peace will, of necessity, be small, but let us make it significant by becoming a nonnuclear nation. — Yours, etc.,
GRAHAM WILSON April 23, 1979.
