‘Holding On’ grows

Young Charlie Wheelwright is now a family man and in “Holding On,” TVI tonight, he is recognised by all as the district spokesman when a family in Steadman Street are threatened with eviction. He and his wife, Ann, have two sons; they lead a happy life together until World War II comes, forcing Ann and the boys away from Steadman Street to a farm in the country. Ann is bored and lonely in the unfamiliar country, but Harry, a studious, slight boy, is delighted with his hew home. He is allowed to use the private library of Sir Arnold Hawke, and discovers a new world.

His brother, Ted, enjoys the friendship of the country boys. Charlie leads a monastic life alone in Steadman

Street. He visits the ; family at Christmas but this increases his loneliness on his return to the city.
