Innovative pattern book
A young Wellington knitwear company seems to have got it all together. The first edition of an exciting new pattern catalogue for fashion knitteds by Crucci (pronounced croo-chee) combines the unsurpassed virgin Woolmark yarns of New Zealand with French-inspired designs that have been given exclusively to the firm. Crucci Wools, Limited, are confident that they have come up with the sort
of flattering garments that today's woman wants. Among the 22 patterns are bulky slip-ons, battle jackets, waistcoats, blousons, scarves, hats and hooded sweaters in plain and tweed-look wools. A whole new range of Crucci wools — 8 and 14-ply, in earth, sky and berry colours — have been co-ordinated with the new designs in the pattern book. The wide variety of wools have been grouped into three — Crucci Bulky
(14-ply), Crucci Bulkyspun (14-ply) and Shetland (an 8-ply double-knit), all in a wealth of tonings. The colour names alone make you want to reach for your knitting needles, end make a few mix-and-match garments — Peat, Chocolate Mix, Pebble, Musk, Adobe, Plum, Chelsea and
Beach Grey. A special feature of this innovative knitwear publication is that the excellent full-colour pictures are shown with suitable accessories in an appropriate setting. You just know you’ll look good in them. Fashion co-ordination is by Vickie Parker, photo-
graphy by Desmond Williams, and design and production by Grant Alexander. A commendable effort by Crucci. Fashion-conscious knitters — and isn’t that al) of us these days — will be hoping that this book will be the first of many.
