Mount holds lead

Mount Wellington scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to beat Stop Out, 2-1, and therefore maintain its exceilent record when a full round of Rothmans Soccer League matches was played yesterday.

The match was played in blustery winds and rain in Lower Hutt. Shane Rufer gave Stop Out the lead in the ninth minute, Brian Turner scored his third goal in the league this season in the eightieth minute and Billy McClure scored the winner in injury time. A 2-0 win over Blockhouse Bay enabled Courier Rangers to move into second place in the league, ahead of Stop Out.

Eastern Suburbs had its first win of the league season against Manurewa and a penalty by Jack McGillivray gave Dunedin City a win at home against Hanimex United.

The unfortunate start to the season for Manawatu United continued when it was beaten, 1-0, in Palmerston North by Wellington Diamond United. Bruce Polyansky scored the only goal in the second half.
