Asthmatic drowns

PA Tauranga A Rotorua man drowned [at Newdicks Beach, near Te Puke, late on Sunday morning after apparently suffering an asthmatic attack while diving for mussels. He was John Selwyn Imsley, aged 27, a drainlayer, married with two children. According to the Te Puke police, Mr Imsley was freediving off the beach in a group when he said he believed an asthmatic attack was coming on. He set off to return to shore with a [companion, but stopped [swimming during the trip. i His companion brought IMr Imsley to shore but eflforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
