Random runner

Maurice Ryan always claimed that regular running in the off-season helped his concentration and tirelessness on the field as Canterbury’s cricket captain. Although cricket has been his main game, Ryan is a well performed road and cross-country runner for his club, United, and as he gets older he intends to increase his running.

He intends to bring his family into the sport as well, and will run with them in this year’s Park-to-Park run on May 6. Ryan, w'ho has now retired from first-class cricket, is shown training in Hagley Park. As today’s “Random Runner” he is entitled to a free Park-to-Park T-shirt and a free entry in this year’s event as a guest of “The Press.”
