Nandina Leader strong chance
Special correspondent Auckland Nandina Leader looks to have a great chance in the Northland Flying Mile at Ruakaka today of making an overdue return to winning form. Early in the season, Nandina Leader made a big impression when lie won at his first three starts.
In 11 appearances since, however. he has managed only three seconds and a third. His latest performance, at Alexandra Park on April 7, suggested he was back to his best. After having had none the best of the running — he was parked out for a good way — he lost the honours to Delightful Lady in the last few strides. It is likely that Nandina Leaders main opposition will come from Blair Logie and Windy Grove.
Blair Logie, like Nandina Leader, has not won since early in the season. He has turned in a sizable number of good efforts. However, at his last appearance, running third off 10m to Delightful Lady and Nandina Leader at Alexandra Park on April 7. Windy Grove’s failures at Hawera at Easter can be ignored because he was on difficult marks. The time before he won impressively at Alexandra Park.
