New knights
Lord Hunt, who led the first successful expedition to Mount Everest in 1953, and Sir Paul Hasluck, former Governor-General of Australia, have been made Knights companion of the Order of the Garter, Buckingham Palace has announced. The Most Noble Order of the Garter, established in the fourteenth century, is the highest order of knighthood. The number of knights is limited to 24. — London.
