Forest Gate appeals at Otago

Special correspondent Dunedin corest Gate’s winning form at the Riverton Easter meeting augurs well for his chance in the R. A. Kingston Handicap, first leg of the Otago Racing Club’s T.A.B. double at Wingatui tomorrow. Forest Gate won easily over tomorrow’s distance. 1600 m, under weight-for-age conditions on the second day of the Riverton meeting. He drops back 2.5 kg tomorrow. He had gained a hollow win in the main sprint on the first day at Riverton. His stablemate, Tiva, is also a bright prospect. He came back to winning form over 2147 m at Riverton. He was a dose second to Gotta Go over 1600 m in the Queen Elizabeth Handicap at Wingatui in June. Off an’ On, which chased Forest Gate home in the Easter Stakes at Riverton, is another high on the list of fancies. Kranal and Dual, which filled minor placings behind Forest Gate in the sprint at Riverton, are other possibilities. Arrojado, runner-up to Tiva at Riverton, is chosen for the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the Oysters Handicap.
