Fiji offers many hotels and resorts to suit all
The Tanoa Hotel, situated on Namaka Hill barely three minutes from Nandi Airport, is one of the few hotels in Fiji with completely self-contained family units. The villas, one of which is shown at left, sleep up to four persons for a flat rate of $175 a week (about $6 per person per night) or $5OO a month. The villas have cooking facilities, refrigerators, separate bedrooms and air conditioning. The main hotel, which since March 1978 has been managed by Mr Pandit Sharma, has rooms available from $l6. The Tanoa has earned a reputation as a family establishment, particularly among Australians and New Zealanders.
All rooms are carpeted, air conditioned, and have coffee and tea-making facilities.
Accommodation is available in Fiji to suit all pockets. Rooms without facilities, for instance, can cost as little as $3 and $4 a night in reasonable hotels in most centres, but visitors who want toilets, showers, and air-conditioning must be prepared to pay at least $lO a night. The more sophisticated resort hotels charge a lot more; some,
such as the Regent, Beachcomber, and Travelodge, have rates that begin at about $42 a night for a double room. Part of the Man Friday Beach Resort (one of the Trans hotels) is shown above. There are 28 self-contained bures available from $2O (single) and $25 (twin) The resort is on an isolated part of the Coral
