REPORT TIME I ran As fast as I could My School Report clenched in my hand. An idea? Steam it open, Seal it back, No-one would know? It’s time for mum to come home. Oh, no, Mum came through the door. Too late! Simon Atkins, aged 11. BUSH SOIL A tree was standing strong and straight Until it died of old age It fell to the ground And rotted away And slowly it turned into soil A seed from a bird Was dropped on the soil And started to grow a tree. Trees die, But they grow again and again and again . . . A group effort, 10 year olds. CURIOSITY She won’t show, She won’t tell, I do want to know I know I’m inquisitive, I know I’m being nosey, But I do want to know what is In that box! Lisa Atkinson, aged 11. THE BATTLE The stars were out. The night was beautiful. But then the sound of distant troopers Marching. The sounds of death screaming: The cries of victory were frightening. Yet a strike of anger fell across my face. Why? Why? Why? Michelle Norris, aged 10.
