Fletcher, aged f 1 32, is a son of Mr J C. Fiet-

cher, and grandson of Sii James Fletcher. He completed Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Commerce degrees at Aucklalnd university before joining Fletchei Industries, Ltd. in 1969. In 1970 he became a Har kness Fellow, and attended Stanford University. California, for two years, completing a Master of Business Administration degree, and i finished a Master of Com-

merce honours degree while assistant to the managing director of Fletcher Holdings. Later in the same year he was appointed genera! manager of Fletcher Trust and Investment Co. Ltd. and was appointed deputy managing director of Fletcher Holdings in 1976. Mr H. A. Fletcher was closely involved with the recent successful acquisition of Firth Industries. Ltd. by Fletcher Holdings, and with fellow executive directors played a significant part in a major restructuring of the Fletcher group in 1977. ■ He is a council member of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association.
