Progress in bus review

A summary of the first stage of a review of Christchurch Transport Board services should be available by the end of May, according to the board’s general manager (Mr M. G. Taylor). The board decided last June to commission the threestage review after its unsuccessful $50,000 advertising campaign in 1977. The first stage is being done by a firm of transport and town-planning consultants, Gabites Alington, and Edmonson. It has been trying to determine the travel patterns of Christchurch residents. This information will be related to the board’s existing services to see how they fit the pattern. The second stage of the review will determine what should be done to improve the board’s services, and the final stage will implement the recommendations.
