David has a shot at Goliath pizza

“That’s not fair, he got the first bite,” said an envious spectator as she watched David Boyce, a fine-arts student, take a bite of a big pizza in Cathedral Square yesterday afternoon. Mr Boyce had first bite because he was one of three judges in a pizzabaking competition organised as part of Capping Week activities by University of Canterbury students.

Six local pizza parlours entered the competition, which was won by the Leaning Tower of Pizza.

A 12ft by 2ft pizza also made by the Leaning Tower of Pizza, was on display during the competition. More than 40 pizzas were given by the parlours entered in the competition and these were sold to spectators. All proceeds went to charity.
