Car on fire
A motorist whose car burst into flames after it was in collision with a truck on the northern motorway yesterday was reported in a satisfactory condition in the Christchurch Hospital last evening.
He is Dennis Hewison, aged 58, of Featherston Avenue, Kairaki Beach, who suffered head injuries in the accident, Which occurred near Pinehaven about 1 p.m. The Kaiapoi Volunteer Fire Brigade was called th the scene, but the car was well ablaze when brigadesmen arrived. It was described as a write-off.
A middle-aged man was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital after his motorcycle and a car collided near the junction of Sherborne Street and Bealey Avenue about 4.50 p.m. yesterday. He is Michael Moran, aged 55, of 16 Bishop Street, St Albans, who was reported last evening in a satisfactory condition.
Two persons suffered minor injuries when two cars collided near Shag Rock. Sumner, about 7 p.m. Neither was admitted to hospital.
