Overseas tourists, mostly from Australia and the United States, have left the North Canterbury Hospital Board with more than $B4OO in unpaid medical bills.
An attempt will be made by the board this year to ensure that all persons from overseas who receive
treatment at any of Its hospitals pay their accounts before leaving New Zealand. A board spokesman said yesterday that considering the number of overseas vis-
itors passing through Christchurch each year, the board was lucky that the amount was not higher.
