Clyde buys more of Evans Deakin
SZPA Sydney. Clyde Industries, Ltd, has hcreased its share holding in Evans Deakin Industries, Ltd, which last week shored ip its defences against what Appeared to be a take-over Ittempt by Clyde. Clyde has announced the purchase of another 25.000 •hares in Evans Deakin, bringing its holding to 1,610,179 shares or 1.37 per Ent of the issued ordinary pital.
Clyde has been building >p its holding in Evans Dearin for some time. About a rear ago it raised it to about 10 per cent when it acquired the holdings of Industrial
Equity, Ltd, in Evans Deakin.
Last month an alarm bell rang in the Evans Deakin board room when Clyde bought a further 100,000 shares. Clyde’s bid for Jacques, Ltd, "which last month failed after Vickers Australia, Ltd. placed a higher bid, showed that Clyde was interested in expanding its interest in mining and machinery. The board of Evans Deakin last week placed 521,740 shares with the State Government Insurance Office of Queensland but in spite of this Clyde is still the largest shareholder in Evans Deakin with about 13.5 per cent of its capital.
