Last month an alarm bell rang in the Evans Deakin board room when Clyde bought a further 100,000 shares. Clyde’s bid for Jacques, Ltd, "which last month failed after Vickers Australia, Ltd. placed a higher bid, showed that Clyde was interested in expanding its interest in mining and machinery.
